Gift Aid is a scheme that allows Village Water to claim back tax on the income from the sale of goods that you have donated to us. For every £1 of the sale proceeds we can claim back an additional 25p from HM Revenue & Customs. By asking us to gift aid your donation, you confirm that:-
- You are a UK taxpayer and have or will pay an amount of Income tax or Capital Gains tax, not including other taxes such as VAT and Council tax, at least equal to the tax that all Charities or Community Amateur Sports Clubs that you donate to will reclaim on your donations in the appropriate tax year.
- You own the goods you are donating and wish Village Water to act as your agent in selling these goods.
- You authorise Village Water to reclaim Gift Aid on the amount raised without seeking your further authorisation where the sale proceeds are less than £100 in any tax year.
- You wish Village Water to continue to claim Gift Aid on your donations in future years unless you advise us otherwise.
- You will advise us if you wish to cancel your declaration, you change your name or home address or you no longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains.
- You understand the Gift Aid scheme is not suitable for non-taxpayers because if you do not pay at least the amount of income tax we will reclaim you could become personally liable for the amount reclaimed.
Village Water values your support and promises to respect your privacy. The data you provide will be held securely and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and we will not share it with any third parties.
We may need to contact you in the future regarding the Gift Aid scheme and will write to you in any year where the sale proceeds of your donations exceeds £100. If you are a higher rate taxpayer and would like us to write to you regardless of the amount raised we will be pleased to do so.
