Donor Research Assistant

The Role
As the Volunteer Donor Research Assistant, you’ll support our fundraising efforts by researching prospective donors, foundations, and corporate partners. You’ll help identify new funding opportunities, maintain accurate donor information, and provide valuable insight that strengthens supporter engagement and long-term fundraising success.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys research, is highly organised, and wants to gain hands-on experience in the charity sector while contributing to a meaningful cause.
Village Water will reimburse reasonable out-of-pocket expenses incurred while undertaking authorised activities.
Your Responsibilities
– Research and identify prospective individual, corporate, and trust & foundation donors.
– Support the development of donor prospect profiles and background research.
– Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records and spreadsheets.
– Monitor news, funding trends, and philanthropic activity relevant to our work.
– Help ensure all donor information is handled confidentially and professionally.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about the cause and excited to make a meaningful contribution. Your skills and experience may include:
– Strong research and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
– Confidence using online research tools, databases and Microsoft Office.
– Excellent written and organisational skills.
– Ability to manage information accurately and work independently.
– An interest in fundraising, philanthropy, international development, or the charity sector.
– A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
– Previous research, administration, or volunteer experience is helpful but not essential.
