For over 20 years, Village Water has been committed to transforming lives in Africa by delivering vital support in safe water, sanitation and hygiene education (WASH) to rural communities in Zambia and Mozambique. Collaborating with local partners, we reach the most marginalised populations in villages, schools, and health centres improving health and empowering communities with opportunities to succeed.

The Role
As an Events Volunteer, you’ll support the planning and delivery of fundraising and community events in Shrewsbury. You’ll help create positive experiences for supporters, assist with event set-up and coordination, and represent the organisation with enthusiasm and professionalism. 

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting people and wants to gain practical experience in events and fundraising while supporting a meaningful cause. 

Village Water will reimburse reasonable out-of-pocket expenses incurred while undertaking authorised activities.

Your Responsibilities

– Support the set-up and pack-down of fundraising and community events.  

– Welcome and engage with attendees, supporters, and participants. 

– Assist with event registration, raffles, collections, and merchandise sales. 

– Help promote events through local outreach and social media activity where appropriate.  

– Provide general support to ensure events run smoothly and safely. 

– Represent the organisation positively and professionally at all times. 

– Assist staff and fellow volunteers with a range of event-related activities. 

– Help create an enjoyable and inclusive atmosphere for all attendees.  

About You
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, and excited to support our work within the local community. Your skills and experience may include: 

– Strong communication and interpersonal skills.  

– Ability to work well as part of a team and use initiative when needed.  

– Reliability and willingness to support at occasional weekend or evening events.  

– An interest in fundraising, community engagement, or the charity sector.

– Confidence interacting with members of the public.  

– Previous events or volunteer experience is helpful but not essential.
