Training the next generation of Area Pump Minders
To prepare for their role, we deliver both theoretical and practical training to APMs. This includes learning about preventive maintenance, fault identification, repair techniques, water system components and safe working practices. Participants also gain hands-on experience working directly with water systems, helping them build the confidence to diagnose and resolve common issues in the field.
Village Water also equips many APMs with basic toolkits, enabling them to put their new skills into practice and respond to maintenance and repair needs in their local areas. Combined with practical experience, this training helps strengthen local capacity and improve the reliability of water services.
